Giving Back to Our Communities

At Homespire Mortgage, we are committed to strengthening the communities in which we live and work through corporate giving, volunteering, and fundraising. In addition to our vision of helping to eliminate homelessness and increasing homeownership, we also strive to create positive change in the communities we serve by giving back to those most in need.

“Inspired to Impact” is a company-wide initiative we launched to ensure giving is a greater part of our culture. Throughout the years, we have continued to support multiple worthy causes – donating food to the hungry, walking to end the stigma around mental illness, and helping families with sick children pay their mortgages. We are proud of our team’s efforts this year in the wake of the pandemic, and the charitable contributions Homespire has made throughout 2020.

Working with The Chesapeake Bay Foundation, Homespire Mortgage contributed $10,000 to the non-profit organization’s vision of “clear water, free of impacts from toxic contaminants, and with healthy oxygen levels” for the bay’s 18 million residents and 3,000 species of plants and animals. The initiative, known as “Save the Bay,” is a call to action for reducing pollution throughout the Chesapeake’s six states.

During this year’s unprecedented times due to COVID-19, our team contributed $10,000 and worked alongside the Maryland Food Bank to feed children, families and seniors. We provided contactless “grab and go” meals to replace school lunches and non-perishable goods to families and seniors across the state by drive-through food distributions. Every dollar donated to the Maryland Food Bank provides up to three meals, equating to over 40 million meals distributed every year.

Our Minds Matter is a “student-led movement to change the school culture around mental health.” OMM strives to reduce the number of teen suicides through research and the power of peer-to-peer influence among adolescents. Our team was proud to contribute $15,000 to help further OMM’s mission to establish clubs in schools across the country. The establishment of these clubs and group activities encourage students to seek help when needed, while promoting healthy habits and coping skills.

“At Homespire, we strive to be a ‘people first’ company through everything we do” said Michael Rappaport, president of Homespire Mortgage. “We are honored to support such worthy causes, movements and organizations supporting our communities, and proud of the efforts and contributions our team members have made in 2020.”
